The IPL mega auction is set to take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah. A total of 1,574 players had registered for this event, but the final shortlist now includes 574 players. In the world’s biggest T20 league, not only young players but also veteran players try their luck. This time, the mega auction will feature players ranging from 13 years old to 42 years old.
The Oldest Player in the Auction
England’s seasoned cricketer James Anderson, aged 42 years and 108 days (as of November 15), is the oldest player in the IPL 2025 mega auction. After a long break, he has registered for the auction. In recent years, Anderson had focused solely on playing Test matches for England. Earlier this year, he announced his retirement from international cricket and has now entered the auction, even making it to the shortlist.
What Is Anderson’s Base Price?
Anderson last played a T20 match in August 2014 and has taken 41 wickets in 44 matches in this format. He has set his base price at INR 1.25 crore, a new base price slot introduced by the BCCI for the auction.
Who Is the Youngest Player in the Mega Auction?
Vaibhav Suryavanshi is the youngest player in this year’s mega auction, aged 13 (as of November 15). Born on March 27, 2011, this batting all-rounder has already played five first-class matches for Bihar. However, due to his lack of T20 experience, he is unlikely to attract bids in the upcoming auction. Vaibhav was also part of the India U-19 team that played two four-day red-ball matches against Australia in September 2024, where he scored an impressive century. Currently, he is struggling to score runs in the Ranji Trophy.
