Young opener Ayush Shinde played a phenomenal innings of 419* runs off 152 balls in the prestigious Harris Shield Tournament. Representing General Education Academy, Ayush hit 43 fours and 24 sixes against Parle Tilak Vidya Mandir. With this marathon innings, Ayush shattered the decades-old record of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. The match, held at Cross Maidan, saw Ayush etch his name into the record books. He now ranks fourth in the list of highest individual scores in Boys’ Under-16 cricket. Notably, Sarfaraz Khan had scored 439 runs at the age of 12 in 2009. Ayush’s knock helped his team secure a massive 464-run victory.
Breaking Tendulkar and Kambli’s Record
Ayush not only surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s unbeaten 326 but also overtook Vinod Kambli’s 349*. Sachin and Kambli had famously stitched a record 664-run partnership, leading their team to a memorable win. In this match, Ayush’s blistering innings powered his team to a total of 648/5.
Harris Shield: A Gateway to Team India
The Harris Shield Tournament has been a stepping stone for several Indian cricket stars, including Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli, Prithvi Shaw, and Sarfaraz Khan. In 2013, Prithvi Shaw grabbed headlines by scoring a record 546 runs at the age of 14. Ayush now dreams of following in their footsteps to represent Team India.
A Father’s Dedication
Ayush’s father, Sunil Shinde, moved to Mumbai to support his son’s cricketing ambitions. Sunil, who works in a jewelry shop crafting gold chains, played tennis ball cricket in Satara during his youth. Ayush began learning cricket at the age of six and is passionate about the sport. His dedication is evident; during practice, he has broken three TVs at home! Last season, Ayush was the highest run-scorer in the Under-16 category of the tournament. Sunil describes his son as stubborn but determined to achieve his goals.
