Former Indian cricketer and former head coach Rahul Dravid’s son, Samit Dravid, has been selected for the Indian Under-19 team for the series against Australia. Samit has been chosen for both the One-Day and the four-day series.
The series will feature three One-Day matches and two four-day matches. Mohammad Aman will lead the One-Day team, while Soham Patwardhan has been appointed the captain for the four-day matches. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the team for the series.
The three-match One-Day series will begin on September 21, with the next two matches scheduled for September 23 and 26. These matches will be held in Puducherry. Following this, the four-day matches will take place in Chennai on September 30 and October 7.
Samit impressed in domestic tournaments
Samit is a fast-bowling all-rounder and is currently playing for Mysuru Warriors in the KSCA Maharaja T20 Trophy. His batting performance has been disappointing so far, with 82 runs in seven innings, and his highest score being 33. Samit has not bowled in the tournament yet.
However, earlier this year, he performed well in the Cooch Behar Trophy, playing a crucial role in Karnataka’s maiden title victory. The 18-year-old scored 362 runs in eight matches, including a 98-run knock against Jammu. Additionally, he was effective with the ball, taking 16 wickets in eight matches, including two in the final against Mumbai.
