New Zealand’s fast bowler Tim Southee has made a significant statement about Team India, saying that now everyone knows it’s possible to beat India in a Test series in India. While he acknowledges that it’s not easy, he believes it’s fair to say that winning a Test series in India is achievable. New Zealand currently holds a 2-0 lead in the three-match Test series, with the final match set to be played at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium starting November 1.
When asked about the long-standing notion that beating India in a Test series in India is one of the toughest tasks, and whether New Zealand felt the same, Tim Southee told Cricbuzz, “Yes, I think if you just look at history. Over the last 12 years, no one has been able to do it, and India has won 18 consecutive series. It’s an incredibly tough place. I think from my perspective, based on the cricket I’ve played over the years, India and Australia are probably the hardest places to play.”
He further added, “The conditions, the quality of the opposition, and their home performance make it a tough place to tour. But if you look at the last 12 years and 18 series, it’s good to be part of the team that broke that streak. I think it shows other teams around the world that it’s possible to beat India in India.” The last time India lost a Test series at home was to England in 2012.
