IPL 2025 Auction- Yuzvendra Chahal Sold to Punjab Kings for Rs 18 Crore

IPL 2025- Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal was acquired by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for a remarkable Rs 18 Crore at the IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It came as a surprise when Rajasthan Royals decided to part ways with the seasoned spinner, a move that likely thrilled other franchises looking to secure his services.

CSK kicked off the bidding process, but it soon turned into a fierce battle between PBKS and LSG. As the bidding heated up, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chahal’s former team, re-entered the fray in hopes of reacquiring the bowler. However, Sunrisers Hyderabad joined the contest, with PBKS once again stepping in to claim the prize.

Earlier in 2024, Chahal made history in the IPL by becoming the first bowler to reach 200 wickets. He then went on to achieve another milestone, becoming the first Indian bowler to take 350 wickets in T20 cricket, further solidifying his dominance in the format.

During his 113 IPL matches for RCB, Chahal claimed 139 wickets. Despite this impressive record, he was not retained ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. The 34-year-old spinner then joined RR, where he has continued to prove his worth, taking 66 wickets in the past three seasons and reaffirming his status as one of the top bowlers in the IPL.
