Big Blow to Australia on Day 4 of the Brisbane Test, Josh Hazlewood Taken to Hospital

On the fourth day of the ongoing third Test against India at Brisbane’s Gabba, Australia faced a major setback. Their key bowler, Josh Hazlewood, suffered an injury. Although he was seen on the field during the first hour of play and bowled one over, he was soon taken off the field. This has dealt a significant blow to Australia in this match. Hazlewood was sent to the hospital for scans due to an issue with his calf muscles. The scans will determine whether he can continue playing in the match.

As of now, Josh Hazlewood is unavailable for the first session of the fourth day. Whether he will bowl in the second session remains uncertain. If the injury turns out to be serious, the team might decide to rest him for this match, considering the importance of the remaining two matches in the series. However, this will only be decided after the scan results. Cricket Australia itself has confirmed this information. Hazlewood has bowled six overs in this match so far, taking one wicket by dismissing Virat Kohli, who was caught behind by Alex Carey.

Notably, Hazlewood missed the pink-ball Test in Adelaide due to an injury, where Scott Boland replaced him and bowled effectively. Despite Boland’s performance, Hazlewood made a comeback but is now injured again. He had a decent performance in the Perth Test. If Hazlewood is unavailable, it will increase the workload on Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc, with Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Marsh also expected to bowl. Marsh, however, hasn’t bowled much in either the Adelaide or Brisbane Tests.
