The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy. On Sunday, the board revealed that Jos Buttler will lead the team in this prestigious tournament. However, star all-rounder Ben Stokes has not been included in the 15-member squad due to an injury sustained during the third Test match against New Zealand. Meanwhile, Joe Root has made a comeback to the ODI team.
Root Returns to ODI Squad
Along with the Champions Trophy squad, the ECB also announced the squad for England’s tour of India. England will tour India early next year to play five T20Is and three ODIs. Jos Buttler will captain the team in both series. Joe Root, who last played in the ODI format during the 2023 World Cup, has made his return but has not been selected for the T20 series. The ECB confirmed that the England team will leave for India on January 17, with the T20 series starting on January 22.
