India’s women’s team faced off against Australia’s women’s team in a match, which Australia won by 9 runs. After India’s defeat, discussions have emerged suggesting that the team is now out of the race for the semifinals. However, despite this loss, all hope is not lost for Team India. They can still make it to the semifinals, but there is only one path left. While the Indian team may have had a disappointing performance in this World Cup, fans still hold on to hope that the team will somehow secure a semifinal spot. Let’s explore how the Indian women’s team can still reach the semifinals of the Women’s T20 World Cup.

How India can still reach the semifinals

To qualify for the semifinals, the Indian women’s team now depends on the outcome of the Pakistan vs New Zealand match. On October 14, Pakistan’s women’s team will play against New Zealand’s women’s team, and the result of this match will be crucial for India’s chances. If Pakistan’s women’s team defeats New Zealand’s women’s team, India can easily make it to the semifinals. However, one condition is that Pakistan’s net run rate must not surpass India’s. Currently, the Indian women’s team has a net run rate of +0.322, while Pakistan’s net run rate stands at -0.488. As for New Zealand, their net run rate is +0.282.

Recap of India vs Australia match

In the match between India and Australia, Australia batted first and posted 151 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. India then came out to chase the target and started off well. However, due to Harmanpreet Kaur‘s slow innings, India fell short, managing only 142 runs for 9 wickets in their 20 overs, losing the match. Despite the loss, India is still in second place on the points table.
