Despite a century against Australia, Yashasvi Jaiswal has dropped in the latest ICC Test rankings. Similarly, Virat Kohli has also faced a setback, slipping one spot to 14th. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah continues to dominate the Test bowlers’ rankings, holding the top position.
Setback for Jaiswal and Kohli
The Indian team is currently touring Australia, having already played the first Test of the five-match series. India secured a massive 295-run victory in Perth. Despite scoring centuries in the match, both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli have lost ground in the latest ICC rankings. Jaiswal, who smashed 161 runs with 15 fours and 3 sixes in the second innings, dropped two places to fourth with 825 rating points. England’s Harry Brook has overtaken him to claim the second spot. Kohli, with an unbeaten 100 in the match, now stands at 14th with 689 rating points.
Only Two Indian Batters in the Top 10
Rishabh Pant had a quiet game in Perth, scoring 37 and 1 in his two innings. However, his ranking remains unaffected as he holds the sixth spot with 736 rating points. Currently, only Pant and Jaiswal feature in the top 10 Test batting rankings for India.
Bumrah Reigns Supreme
In the Test bowlers’ rankings, Jasprit Bumrah retains his number one spot with 883 rating points. Bumrah was instrumental in India’s victory, taking eight wickets in the first Test. Ravichandran Ashwin, who was rested for the match, remains fourth in the rankings. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja has gained one spot, climbing to sixth with 794 points. Both spinners are among the top 10 bowlers, showcasing India’s depth in bowling.
