The excitement for the IPL 2025 mega auction is building up, and there are talks that it could be held overseas. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the top choice. Cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi are being looked at because they have hosted IPL events before with great success. Other places like Muscat and Doha are also options, but the UAE is the favourite.

The exact dates for the IPL 2025 auction haven’t been confirmed yet. However, BCCI officials are thinking about holding it in mid-November or mid-December. They are currently deciding between two windows: November 16-17 or December 15-20. The board is working on solving any logistical issues to make sure everything goes smoothly for players, team owners, and broadcasters.

This wouldn’t be the first time the IPL holds events outside India. In the past, the UAE has successfully hosted IPL seasons and auctions. Hosting the auction abroad could help increase the league’s global popularity, and the UAE is well-equipped to handle such major cricket events.

One of the biggest concerns for teams right now is the retention policy. Franchises are waiting for the BCCI to announce new guidelines on how many players they can keep before the auction. Some teams want to be able to retain more players, while others are fine with the current limit of four to five. Without these rules, teams are struggling to plan their auction strategies.

By hosting the IPL 2025 mega auction in the UAE, the BCCI aims to strengthen the league’s global presence. The UAE has already become a popular venue for IPL due to its world-class facilities and a large cricket-loving community. The country’s easy travel connections and top-notch infrastructure make it an ideal location for such a grand event.
