IPL 2025: Neither Virat Kohli nor Krunal Pandya; This Player Could Be RCB’s New Captain

Currently, Virat Kohli is the frontrunner for the captaincy, but nothing has been confirmed.

Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Speculations are rife about Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) new captain. With Faf du Plessis, who captained RCB in IPL 2024, no longer part of the team, the franchise has yet to announce his successor. Fans on social media are debating whether Virat Kohli should once again lead the team. However, a new name has surfaced, potentially as RCB’s next captain.

RCB Has a Strong Option

Currently, Virat Kohli is the frontrunner for the captaincy, but nothing has been confirmed. Another candidate in the mix is Krunal Pandya, who was recently released by Mumbai Indians and picked up by RCB for ₹5.75 crore in the mega auction. While Kohli and Krunal are strong contenders, speculation suggests that a third player could emerge as the new captain.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar as a Potential Captain

Veteran fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who played for Sunrisers Hyderabad for the past 11 years, is now part of RCB. The franchise acquired him for ₹10.75 crore in the mega auction. Given his experience, Bhuvneshwar is also being considered a viable option for the captaincy.

Having previously captained in the IPL, Bhuvneshwar could step into the leadership role if Virat Kohli declines the captaincy. However, there has been no official statement from the franchise regarding this decision yet.
