The IPL 2025 mega auction will take place on November 24 and 25, with a total of 574 players up for bidding. In the meantime, the BCCI has announced important dates for the next three IPL seasons, marking a significant move by the league. This is the first time such an announcement has been made. According to the released schedule, the 2025 IPL will begin on March 14 and the final will take place on May 25. The 2026 season will be held from March 15 to May 31, while the 2027 season will take place between March 14 and May 30.
Eyes on the Mega Auction

The auction will feature 574 players, including 48 capped Indian players, 193 capped international players, 3 associate national players, 318 uncapped Indian players, and 12 uncapped international players. Out of these, only 204 players will be bought, with 70 slots reserved for foreign players.

Number of Matches in the Next Season
According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, an email sent to franchises on Thursday revealed the tentative dates for the tournament. It is highly likely that these could be the final dates. The 2025 IPL will feature 74 matches, the same number played in the last three seasons. Although the BCCI had initially discussed 84 matches per season when it sold its rights, this has not materialized yet.
