After dismissing India for 150 runs, Australia lost seven wickets for just 67 runs on the first day of the first Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Friday. The Australian team is still 83 runs behind India’s first-innings score. Despite the grass on the pitch, it was surprising when Bumrah chose to bat after winning the toss, as the pitch offered seam and extra bounce for the bowlers.
Both young and experienced Indian batsmen struggled against the host bowlers. All eyes were also on former captain Virat Kohli, who has been struggling to score runs recently. He was dismissed in the first innings, caught out off Hazlewood’s rising delivery.
Australian veteran fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has dismissed Kohli for the 10th time. With this, he moves to joint second place in the list of bowlers who have dismissed Kohli the most. New Zealand’s star fast bowler Tim Southee holds the record for dismissing Kohli the most times, having sent him back 11 times in 37 innings.
Hazlewood has done so in 28 innings, while former England fast bowler James Anderson has dismissed Kohli 10 times in 37 innings. Moeen Ali has also dismissed Kohli 10 times in 41 innings.
