After a month’s break, the Indian team has started practice for the upcoming two Test series against Bangladesh. The first Test against Bangladesh will be played from September 19. The entire team including captain Rohit Sharma, champion batsman Virat Kohli gathered at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. New bowling coach Morne Morkel and batting coach Vikram Rathod were also present. New bowling coach Morne Morkel has joined Team India.

Former South African fast bowler Morne Morkel has been made the new bowling coach of the Indian team. It has always been a challenge for batsmen to play Morkel, who gets bounce even from a lifeless pitch due to his tall stature and high-arm action. After retiring as a cricketer, Morkel has also done a great job in coaching.
Under his coaching, fast bowlers have got to learn more than just ‘bowling’. Morkel is the coach whose guidance had a profound impact on Pakistan’s pace sensation Naseem Shah. Morne Morkel, who is very active as a coach, was the first choice of Indian team head coach Gautam Gambhir.

BCCI shared the pictures of the first day’s practice and wrote, ‘The countdown begins. Team India has started preparing for the exciting domestic season.’ The pictures show that the entire team is listening carefully to Gautam Gambhir, support staff and captain Rohit Sharma. Earlier, Rohit, wearing a yellow jersey, came out of the airport surrounded by security personnel while Virat has reached here directly from London in the early hours.

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, batsman KL Rahul, wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant had reached Chennai on Thursday itself. The players will return to the field after a break of more than a month. India had to face defeat in the ODI series against Sri Lanka in August. This is the first Test series with new coach Gautam Gambhir.

India tops the World Test Championship points table
Bangladesh recently defeated Pakistan 2-0 in the Test series. This series is part of the World Test Championship cycle. India will then play a three Test series against New Zealand and a five match Border-Gavaskar series in Australia. India tops the WTC with 68.52 percent points while Australia is second with 62.52 percent points. Bangladesh is fourth with 45.83 percent points. The second Test will be played in Kanpur from September 27.
