New Zealand clinched the title by defeating South Africa in the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. After suffering defeats in the finals of 2009 and 2010, the Kiwi team must have breathed a sigh of relief. This marks New Zealand’s first T20 World Cup title, making them the fourth team overall to win the Women’s T20 World Cup. Following this victory, the ICC showered the team with monetary rewards, as they earned over ₹21 crore by winning the tournament. Meanwhile, the runners-up, South Africa, also enjoyed a significant payout.

The ICC increased the prize money for women’s cricket this time, bringing it in line with men’s cricket. A prize pool was also established for all ten participating teams. For the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup, the ICC announced a total prize money of $795,800, which is approximately ₹66.89 crore.

The ICC had previously decided that no team participating in the tournament would leave empty-handed. Each team that participated was awarded $112,500, which amounts to about ₹94.56 lakh. Additionally, each team received $31,154 (around ₹26.18 lakh) for every match they won in the group stage. Teams finishing in third and fourth place in their groups received $270,000, while teams that finished fifth received $135,000.
