England will play a T20 series against Australia from September 11 to 15, but their captain Jos Buttler will not join because of a calf injury. Phil Salt will take his place as captain. Jos Buttler might also miss the ODI series between England and Australia, which is from September 19 to 29. England hasn’t played since they lost to India in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024.
Jamie Overton has been added to the T20 squad as a replacement, and Jordan Cox will join the ODI squad as cover. Harry Brook might lead the ODI team if Jos Buttler does not recover in time. Jos Buttler hopes to return soon to prove he is still the right choice to lead England’s white-ball team.
