That’s the tone you want to see from your former captain.”
Isa Guha, who was commentating alongside Brett Lee, responded by saying, “He’s the MVP, isn’t he? The Most Valuable Primate, Jasprit Bumrah.”
Typically, MVP stands for Most Valuable Player, but Isa Guha’s use of the word primate, which translates to “monkey,” has sparked outrage. Her comment has now embroiled her in a serious controversy.

Not the First Racial Incident in Australia
This is not the first time Indian players have faced racial abuse in Australia. Cricket fans still remember the infamous 2008 “Monkeygate” scandal, where Andrew Symonds accused Harbhajan Singh of calling him a “monkey.” The incident led to Harbhajan being banned for a few matches.

Despite the controversy, Jasprit Bumrah remained a key performer for India, taking five wickets in the first innings of the Gabba Test. This marks his second five-wicket haul of the series.
