Reports are emerging that Musheer Khan, the young batsman and star cricketer Sarfaraz Khan’s younger brother, has been injured in a car accident. Media sources claim he has sustained serious injuries to his neck, and he will be unable to participate in the upcoming Irani Cup. According to reports, Musheer was traveling from Azamgarh to Lucknow with his father, Naushad Khan, when their car flipped over four to five times on the road. The exact cause of the accident is still unclear.
It is being reported that depending on the severity of his injuries and recovery process, the 19-year-old batsman could be sidelined from cricket for a period of six weeks to three months. This injury is a significant blow for Musheer, as he has been scoring heavily in domestic cricket over the past year and was pushing for a place in the national team.
Currently, Musheer is in excellent form in red-ball cricket. He recently scored a remarkable 181 runs for India-B against India-A in the Duleep Trophy, playing a crucial role in his team’s victory. However, his performance has declined in subsequent matches, with scores of one, five, two, and zero in his last four innings.
Musheer is considered one of the emerging talents in the Indian domestic circuit. While playing for Mumbai in first-class cricket, he has accumulated 716 runs in 15 innings at an impressive average of 51.14, including three centuries and one half-century. However, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has not yet issued any official statement regarding his injury. Musheer’s absence will be a significant setback for the Mumbai team, especially as he was expected to play a crucial role in the Irani Cup at this unfortunate time.
