The Zimbabwe cricket team has set the highest score in T20 International history. In the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Sub-Regional Qualifier B, 2024, Zimbabwe posted 344 runs in the allotted 20 overs against Gambia. The match was held at the Ruaraka Sports Club Ground in Nairobi, where captain Sikandar Raza put on a brilliant display, scoring a century in just 33 balls.

Captain Sikandar Raza remained unbeaten, scoring 133 runs off just 43 balls. Openers Brian Bennett and wicketkeeper Marumani took the score to 98 runs in just 5.4 overs. Both openers scored half-centuries before getting out. Skipper Raza, batting at number four, shared a formidable partnership with Clive Madande for the fifth wicket. Madande also remained unbeaten, smashing 53 runs off just 17 balls.

Gambia was blown away by Sikandar Raza’s storm:

Raza’s explosive innings were filled with aggressive strokes, propelling Zimbabwe to a record-breaking total and further cementing Raza’s status as a T20 International great. His century is now tied as the second-fastest in T20 International history. The fastest century belongs to Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan, who hit a hundred in 27 balls against Cyprus. Namibia’s Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton also made a century in 33 balls against Nepal, a record now shared by Raza. Earlier this month, India came close to breaking the 300-run mark, scoring 297/6 against Bangladesh in the third T20I.
