The Test series between India and Australia is called the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The winning team is awarded the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which is currently held by India. India claimed the 2022-23 Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-1 in the series played in India. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy was introduced in 1996-97, named after former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar and former Australian captain Allan Border. Despite M.L. Jaisimha’s 101 runs in Brisbane, India lost by 35 runs while chasing 394. Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi’s team had an average performance, with off-spinner Erapalli Prasanna taking 25 wickets. - 1977-78: Australia won the five-match series 3-2
This was the first time India won a Test match in Australia, with victories in Melbourne and Sydney. Bishan Singh Bedi picked up 31 wickets in the series. - 1980-81: Three-match series ended in a 1-1 draw

Under M.S. Dhoni’s captaincy, India had a disappointing tour, marking the final Test series for Dravid and Laxman.

After drawing the third Test, Dhoni stepped down as captain, and Virat Kohli took over, scoring 147 in his first innings as captain. - 2018-19: India won the four-match series 2-1
Under Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri, India became the first Asian team to win a Test series in Australia. Cheteshwar Pujara scored 521 runs, and Jasprit Bumrah took 21 wickets. - 2020-21: India won the four-match series 2-1
