The Champions Trophy is set to take place next year. The International Cricket Council (ICC) had earlier announced that the tournament would be conducted in a hybrid model. According to a PTI report on Sunday, India is likely to play all its matches in Dubai. Even if Rohit Sharma and his team qualify for the semi-finals and final, they will continue to play all their matches in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Dubai to Host India’s Matches
PTI quoted a source from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), revealing that after a meeting between PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and his UAE counterpart Sheikh Nahyan Al Mubarak on Saturday night, Dubai was chosen as the neutral venue for India’s matches.
India vs Pakistan Matches to Be Played at Neutral Venues
The ICC announced on Thursday that all matches between India and Pakistan would be played at neutral venues. This means that neither team will tour each other’s country for ICC tournaments, and their matches will only take place at neutral venues. This rule will remain effective from 2024 to 2027. As a result, the Champions Trophy will be held in a hybrid model.
Champions Trophy Schedule to Be Announced Soon
The ICC has not yet released the official schedule for the Champions Trophy. However, it confirmed that the tournament’s schedule will be announced soon. A total of eight teams will participate in the event—India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, New Zealand, and South Africa.
