The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the awards for 2024, and in this series, Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has won a major award. The left-arm pacer has been named the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2024. Arshdeep was selected for this prestigious award ahead of former Pakistan captain Babar Azam, Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikandar Raza, and Australian opener Travis Head, who were also contenders.
Arshdeep Singh’s Exceptional Performance in T20Is
Arshdeep Singh was India’s most successful bowler in T20 Internationals last year. The left-arm fast bowler took 36 wickets in 18 T20I matches, maintaining an impressive average of 13.50. His most remarkable performance came in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he took 17 wickets in 8 matches. Arshdeep also bowled superbly in the T20 World Cup 2024 final, where India defeated South Africa to win the title.
2024 has been a year where Arshdeep Singh has firmly established himself as a world-class bowler in T20 cricket. He took numerous wickets with the new ball and remained consistently economical in the death overs. Only four bowlers took more wickets than Arshdeep in T20 Internationals last year: Usman Najib from Saudi Arabia (38), Wanindu Hasaranga from Sri Lanka (38), Junaid Siddiqui from UAE (40), and Ehsan Khan from Hong Kong (46), but all of them played more matches than Arshdeep.

Arshdeep Singh is India’s most successful bowler in T20 Internationals, having taken 97 wickets in 61 matches. With just 3 more wickets, he will become the first Indian to take 100 wickets in T20Is. Arshdeep’s brilliant performance against England in the Kolkata T20, where he bowled 4 overs for just 17 runs and took 2 wickets, is a prime example of his skill. The record for the most wickets in T20 International cricket belongs to Tim Southee, who has taken 164 wickets in 126 matches.
