India won the T20 World Cup under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, and now head coach Rahul Dravid’s time is ending. Roger Binny, the BCCI president, congratulated the team and suggested that Gautam Gambhir might be the new coach. This win is India’s second T20 World Cup victory, and they won by seven runs against South Africa.

With Dravid leaving, the BCCI is looking for a new coach. Many think Gambhir will be the next coach, and several ex-players support this idea. Gambhir said he is excited about the chance to coach the Indian team and called it an honour. However, he hasn’t said for sure if he will replace Dravid.

After the T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies, Roger Binny said it’s important to choose a coach who knows all formats of cricket well to lead Team India.

“Gautam Gambhir has got a lot of experience and if he takes the job it’s definitely going to be a good thing for Indian cricket. He is experienced that’s what India needs. India needs a coach who played the game, and he has played in all three formats of the game,” Binny told ANI.

Under Dravid’s coaching, India made it to the finals of the ODI World Cup and the World Test Championship but lost to Australia both times. However, India ended their 11-year wait for an ICC title on Saturday.

“Rahul as a cricketer has been fantastic. His contribution to the team has been tremendous because of the experience he brought to the table … he really did a fantastic job with them. It’s just unfortunate that he lost a few games, he lost the last World Cup,” Binny said to ANI.

After the match, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced they are retiring from T20Is. Roger Binny said it will be hard to replace them and urged young players to step up.

“They have been amazing. It will be very hard to replace them right away. It’s a big loss for now. But there is a lot of talent in the IPL. It won’t be easy, but we can find young players to take their place,” he said.
