IND vs AUS: Bad News for Team India, This Player Might Miss the Second Test Too

Team India has taken a 1-0 lead in the five-match Test series against Australia after a convincing 295-run win in the first Test. The second Test of the series is set to be played at the Adelaide Oval. Team India has already arrived in Adelaide for the game, which will be a pink-ball, day-night Test match. Heading into this clash, the Indian team is in excellent form. However, there’s bad news for Team India as one of its star players might miss this match too.

A Blow for Team India

Ahead of the second Test, Team India has suffered a setback. Star player Shubman Gill is likely to miss this match as well. Gill was unable to participate in the first Test due to a finger injury sustained during practice after arriving in Australia. Although there is no fracture, The Times of India reports that Gill will need more time to regain full match fitness.

Gill is currently with the Indian team and has traveled with the squad to Canberra, but he won’t be playing in the two-day pink-ball practice match. When the Indian team departed for Perth, Gill was seen without any bandages on his left hand. However, the report suggests that he has been advised to rest for a few weeks, making his participation in the Adelaide Test doubtful.

Changes in the Playing XI

Changes in India’s playing XI are inevitable. Captain Rohit Sharma missed the first Test due to personal reasons, as he recently became a father for the second time. However, he joined the Indian team in Australia during the first Test and was present at the stadium when India secured their victory. With Rohit’s return, alterations in the playing XI are expected. It is anticipated that Devdutt Padikkal may be dropped to make way for Rohit Sharma.
