Former Australian batter Matthew Hayden has shared some advice for Indian bowlers ahead of the third Test. Hayden explained how India’s pace bowlers could utilize the bounce on the Gabba pitch to their advantage. The third Test between India and Australia is set to begin on December 14 at the Gabba in Brisbane. Australia leveled the five-match series 1-1 with a 10-wicket win in the pink-ball Test in Adelaide.
Hayden discussed strategies for dismissing Australian batters at the Gabba. Speaking to a sports channel, he said, “Whenever India gets the chance to bowl, they should trust the fourth and fifth stump line a bit more. The most important thing is to make use of the bounce. This is key for fast bowlers in Brisbane. The red ball in Test cricket is certainly more familiar, and Australia has the knack of playing with the pink ball, having won many matches with it.”
The former left-handed batter also advised Indian batters to play cautiously in challenging conditions. He said, “India must bat better and take their time. They need to bat for an entire day in Test cricket—anything less is unacceptable. Even in tough conditions, India should look to bat first.”
India’s Historic Gabba Win
India registered a historic win at the Gabba during their previous tour of Australia, sealing the series with a memorable victory. That win remains fresh in the memories of Indian players as they face off at the Gabba once again. Rohit Sharma’s side will aim to bounce back in the series.
Hayden commented, “The Gabba is different—it’s like a home game for Australia. It will be a great match for India because their last experience here was excellent.”
