IPL 2025 Auction Highlights: 10 Franchises Spend Rs 467.95 Crore on 72 Players, Pant and Iyer Strike Big Deals

IPL 2025 Auction Highlights

The IPL 2025 auction took place on Sunday and Monday in Jeddah. On the first day, a total of 72 players, including 24 foreign players, were sold. Four Right to Match (RTM) cards were used by the franchises. Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player of the day, bought by Lucknow Super Giants for ₹27 crore. Shreyas Iyer, who led Kolkata Knight Riders to victory this year, was bought by Punjab Kings for ₹26.75 crore, making him the second most expensive player in IPL history. There was a lot of competition between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings for Iyer, but Punjab won the bidding war.

Kagiso Rabada was bought by Gujarat Titans for ₹10.75 crore, and Mitchell Starc joined Delhi Capitals for ₹11.75 crore. David Miller was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for ₹7.50 crore. Yuzvendra Chahal became the most expensive spinner in IPL history, sold to Punjab Kings for ₹18 crore. A total of ₹126 crore was spent by franchises on seven Indian marquee players.

During the third and fourth sets, Venkatesh Iyer became the most expensive player, bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹23.75 crore. Marcus Stoinis went to Punjab Kings for ₹11 crore, and Ravichandran Ashwin was bought by Chennai Super Kings for ₹9.75 crore. Ishan Kishan was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹11.25 crore. Prasidh Krishna joined Gujarat for ₹9.50 crore, and Avesh Khan was bought by Lucknow for ₹9.75 crore. Jofra Archer was purchased by Rajasthan Royals for ₹12.50 crore, and T. Natarajan went to Delhi Capitals for ₹10.50 crore. Trent Boult made a return to Mumbai Indians for ₹12.50 crore.
