The IPL 2025 match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), scheduled to be held at Eden Gardens on April 6, may see a change in schedule. The local police have not granted security clearance for the match due to the Ram Navami celebrations. After two rounds of discussions with the police, Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President Snehasish Ganguly confirmed that the match has not yet received police approval.
Snehasish Ganguly stated, “Managing a crowd of 65,000 spectators without police security will be impossible. We have informed the BCCI about the situation.” Last year, a similar situation arose when the KKR vs Rajasthan Royals match was rescheduled due to Ram Navami. The upcoming KKR vs LSG match is expected to draw a large crowd.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari had earlier announced that more than 20,000 processions would be held across West Bengal on Ram Navami, increasing the overall security requirements in the state. Due to similar security concerns last season, the KKR vs Rajasthan Royals IPL match was also rescheduled.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah and other dignitaries are also expected to attend the event. While Snehasish Ganguly refrained from revealing further details about the ceremony, he emphasized, “It is a big match with high ticket demand. Eden Gardens is hosting an opening ceremony after a long time.”
