The buzz for IPL 2025 is growing in India. Reports say that the mega auction will happen in the last week of November. Before that, there has been a lot of talk about players like MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma. AB de Villiers, who played with Virat Kohli, has surprisingly suggested that Rohit Sharma could join RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore). After Rohit lost his captaincy in IPL 2024, there has been much discussion about his future. Now, there are speculations that Rohit may not play for Mumbai in IPL 2025.

Talk of Rohit Leaving Mumbai

After Rohit lost the captaincy, some suggested he should leave the Mumbai Indians. Under Rohit’s leadership, Mumbai won the title five times, while the team struggled when Hardik Pandya took over as captain. Many media reports also claimed that Rohit Sharma might join Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025. However, AB de Villiers mentioned the possibility of him going to RCB.

What Did De Villiers Say?

On his YouTube channel, de Villiers jokingly said, “If Rohit leaves Mumbai for RCB, that would be huge news! Imagine the headlines! It would be a bigger story than Hardik leaving. Hardik’s move from Gujarat to Mumbai wasn’t a big surprise, but if Rohit joins RCB, that would be shocking. I don’t think Rohit will leave Mumbai. I would give this a 0 or 0.1 percent chance.”

Supporting Faf du Plessis

AB de Villiers also supported Faf du Plessis, saying, “Age is just a number. I don’t think turning 40 will be an issue. Faf has been part of the team for a few seasons now, and the players are used to him. I think there is pressure on him to win a trophy for RCB. Kohli will support his experienced teammate.”
