A captains’ meet ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place in Pakistan, with representatives from all eight participating teams expected to attend. This event is set to occur on either February 17 or 18. However, it remains uncertain whether Indian captain Rohit Sharma will be present, as political tensions between India and Pakistan have kept the Indian team from traveling to Pakistan for more than ten years. For this reason, India will play all its matches in Dubai, despite Pakistan initially being designated as the host.

BCCI’s newly-appointed secretary, Devajit Saikia, provided an update on the situation, stating that the board has not received any proposal regarding Rohit’s participation in the event. Saikia clarified, “We haven’t received any such proposal. This hasn’t been part of our discussions with the ICC,” according to The Telegraph.

A source told the same newspaper that the situation is quite sensitive, with careful consideration needed for every decision. “India will have to find a way to address the situation, as Pakistan will gain certain advantages by being the host,” the source mentioned.

Another source confirmed to PTI that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has informed the ICC that the opening ceremony, featuring all teams and their captains, will be held in Pakistan.

It was also reported that the ICC delegation that recently visited Pakistan included three Indian nationals, all of whom were promptly granted visas by the PCB after their names were sent by the ICC.

The Champions Trophy is set to begin on February 19 , and the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan match will take place on February 23 in Dubai.
