The second Test between India and Bangladesh is ongoing at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, but rain has affected the match. As a result, very little play was possible on the first two days (September 27 and 28). This Test is very important for India, especially for the World Test Championship (WTC). If the match ends in a draw, what will be India’s situation?

Due to rain and poor visibility, no play was possible on the first day. Bangladesh was at 107/3 when the game was stopped. There was a forecast of rain for the first three days, and play was heavily disrupted on September 27. On Saturday, there was also rain, and not a single over was bowled. There is a 50% chance of rain on Sunday (September 29) as well.

Current WTC 2023-25 Standings:

  • India has 86 points and a win percentage of 71.67%.
  • They have won 7 matches, drawn 2, and lost 1.
  • Bangladesh has a win percentage of 39.29%.

If the Kanpur Test ends in a draw, India will receive 4 points, bringing their win percentage down to 68.18%. This will not keep them ahead of Australia, who currently has a win percentage of 62.50%.

On the other hand, if South Africa wins against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, India’s position may become challenging.

WTC Points System:

  • 12 points for a win
  • 6 points for a tie
  • 4 points for a draw
  • Teams are ranked based on their points percentage.

Therefore, winning against Bangladesh is crucial for India.
